Former Vice President Kamala Harris has not ruled out another presidential campaign, but she is not ready to announce whether she will run in 2028.
During an October 13 appearance on Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, actress and podcast host Keke Palmer directly asked Harris whether she planned to run for president again.
Harris laughed before responding that she had not yet made a decision.
“I haven’t decided yet. I will, I promise.”Kamala Harris
Rather than focusing on a possible 2028 campaign, Harris repeatedly emphasized the upcoming midterm elections.
“’28 doesn’t matter if we don’t do ’26 right.”Kamala Harris
Why Harris Is Focused on the Midterms
The 2026 midterm elections are scheduled for November 3. Voters will decide all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and roughly one-third of the U.S. Senate.
The results will determine which party controls each chamber of Congress and could significantly affect President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda during the remaining two years of his term.
Harris, who lost the 2024 presidential election to Trump, has been campaigning for Democratic candidates ahead of November’s elections.
Her comments to Palmer reflect her stated priority of focusing on the upcoming election before making decisions about her own political future.
Could Harris Run Again in 2028?
Harris became the first Black woman and first Asian American woman to lead a major U.S. political party’s presidential ticket in 2024.
Following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race, Harris became the Democratic nominee but ultimately lost the election to Trump.
Since leaving office in January 2025, questions have continued about whether she will seek the presidency again.
Her latest remarks suggest that another presidential campaign remains possible, but she has made no decision or formal announcement.
A Conversation Beyond the Presidential Race
Palmer and Harris also discussed voting rights, affordability, political accountability and Harris’s experience after leaving the White House.
For now, the former vice president’s attention remains on the election immediately ahead: November 2026.
